1959 – John Sonerud, a Swedish innovator and contractor, saw the need for machines and decided to create a brand new product to meet demands. He talked to his brothers, brought three Norwegian investors in, and together they found the Svenska Hymas AB company. John's idea, to retrofit backhoes to agricultural tractors, was as simple as it was ingenious. During the company's first year, 75 agricultural tractors with retrofitted backhoe arms were delivered.
1960-73 – The company merged with Bröderna Lundbergs Mekaniska Verkstad in Skellefteå.
1974 – The collaboration with Volvo began, which meant that Volvo's model 616/642 backhoe loaders were manufactured at the Hudiksvall factory.
1981 – Due to declining orders received from the company's largest customer, Volvo, the decision was made to close the factory in Hudiksvall. The contract with Bröderna Lundbergs was terminated and the company moved its production back to Skellefteå.
On January 1, 1982, Hudiksvalls Mekaniska AB was founded.
1986 – The company changed its name to Huddig AB.
2013 – Huddig set a new industry standard when they created the City, Cable, and Rail segments with machines specially equipped for each area of use.
